About Organization
As Seoul’s first municipal arboretum, Seoul Pureun Arboretum was transformed from an unused open space into an eco-friendly, clean arboretum. It was designated as Seoul’s first public arboretum in 2018.
It collects, propagates, and preserves plant genetic resources. Visitors can see a variety of rare plants in the Hangdong Reservoir and 20 themed gardens.
The arboretum is a valuable resource that all of us must protect and cultivate, and is a living cultural heritage to be passed on to future generations. Seoul Pureun Arboretum serves as a place for ecological learning through themed gardens such as the Five-Color Garden, Wildflower Garden, and Children’s Garden, as well as educational content and gardening programs at the Information Center and Forest Learning Center.

20 Display GardensSeoul Pureun Arboretum features themed gardens including the Five-Color Garden, Wildflower Garden, Hydrangea Garden, Coniferous Garden, Broadleaf Garden, Bulb Garden, Stream Garden, Wetland Garden, Perennial Garden, Rose Garden, and Children’s Garden, reflecting a wide range of ages and interests.

KB Forest Learning Center (Exhibition Greenhouse)Established through a donation from the KB Financial Group, the Forest Learning Center combines an educational space dedicated to plant education and a crescent-shaped exhibition space. It is designed to conserve energy by utilizing the terrain and facing south. The center exhibits useful resource plants from around the world, enhancing understanding of exotic flora. The exhibition area is a multi-purpose space showcasing the characteristic plants of various countries.

Hangdong ReservoirA former rice paddy and field with poor drainage, the reservoir now has perforated pipes installed throughout the arboretum to improve drainage and aeration. Water collected in these pipes flows into the Hangdong Reservoir. Parking lots and lawns are designed as rain gardens, allowing water to infiltrate and to be filtered slowly. These areas also help regulate water flow during rain, create beautiful landscapes, and serve as ecological habitats.
